Welcome the phylogenetic trees website

The aim of this website is to outline my personal research interests as well as to provide a useful bioinformatics resource.

The key areas of research that I am interested in are:

  • Computational biology
  • Diversity and evolutionary history of HIV
  • Analysis of pyrosequencing data
  • Detection of HIV-1 co-receptor usage
  • molecular evolution
  • Vaccine design
  • Automated identification of significant phylogenetic clusters
  • Recombinant breakpoint detection and characterization

One of the key themes that will be developed for this site is a Java Code Tutorial that will explain how to do things such as pairwise alignments, multiple alignments, BLAST searches, tree inference, tree drawing, 454 read management and some other bioinformatics techniques uing the java programming language.

Feel free to email me with any questions, content suggestions or collaboration ideas.
